Doug E Larson, AIA

Partner

Douglas Larson was born in 1963 and grew up in suburban Detroit and rural Pennsylvania. He holds Bachelors degrees in Design and Structural Engineering from the University of Michigan, where he also taught architectural history. He started private architectural practice in New York in 1995 and joined Byron Bell as partner in Bell-Larson in 1997. In 2004, he opened a new partnership with Rodman Paul. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Doug’s approach to architecture can be described as informed modernism. He is comfortable with historical styles as well as contemporary idioms, and retains a special affinity for Scandinavian Modernism. He believes excellence in architecture comes through the overlay of an idealized abstraction with a specific set of requirements and constraints discovered through the process of researching client’s needs and desires.
